You would think that the experts were a little optimistic when they predict such a huge growth in this sector, but you would be wrong. Email is much more than just a communication tool, both commercial and governmental organisations have become reliant on email to send and store vital business information such as contracts, tenders, proposals, HR documents, payslips and marketing material.
What exactly is email archiving?
Email Archiving is the automatic process of capturing, preserving, and making easily searchable all email traffic giving you compress and encrypted records of each inbound, outbound and internal communications and attachments. The experts are predicting hosted archiving to show significant growth as it promises instant deployment and not upfront investment.

Great post Liam. Most organisations have been very slow in according their e-mail traffic the same degree of filing and archiving effort that was previously applied to their written correspondence. Only with the passage of time have they come to realize their paper files no longer represent the backbone of their business information. Lack of proper control and the occasional system crash have found many of them with information gaps that cannot be rectified, and that's only speaking about their mundane paperwork.
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to contracts, tenders, proposals, HR documents, payslips etc that you mention above it's an even more serious problem. The fact that people are starting to wake up to the problem will indeed produce a growth spurt.
